I know it's kind of a silly question, but I'm curious. Would you still celebrate a birthday if you arrived here just a little before it? For fun, or for real?

Everyone needs a break from training now and then, and Katara is putting this theory to good practice right now.

A Meowth on a surfboard.

Well that's... different...? Or, heck, maybe not, knowing this place. Yeah, probably not. Still, different or not there is definitely a Meowth on a surfboard. She's not alone, though, as her new trainer- Katara -is standing behind her more towards the middle-back end of the board as they ride the waves, cheering and laughing.

The other Pokemon currently in her party are relaxing on the back of her Lapras, who happens to be the one providing the waves using-- well --"Surf". There's Carla and Arnook, at least. Jet and Hikaru (her new Leafeon) are both resting on the shore guarding her possessions and keeping an eye on her eggs.]

I never would have guessed Meowths would be such big fans of water. Careful you don't go over the edge, Nikta.

[The Meowth doesn't seem to be listening, she's intent on getting as close to the front of the board as she possibly can. Feel free to join or approach once they reach the shore.]

Yes, I would. I think especially if you're in a new place like this, no reason to change everything about your life just because you're somewhere new.

Well, I celebrated a little - even though I'd only been here a few weeks.

It took me some time to figure out the exact date. We don't measure the year with the months used here.

Well, at first I wasn't sure when it was, exactly. Sokka had to help me figure out how the dates here compare with our system back home. Then I realized it passed by just a few days after I'd come back.

[Not to mention that technically she's not sure if she really aged one year, two years, or three years between her travels here and home.]

Four days after I arrived, so back on March 20th I think. Not to mention I technically already had one here before I went home last time. Between here and home it's almost enough to make my head spin a little, trying to keep track of the time.

That's a good way of looking at it. I guess it would make things easier to deal with if you can keep more things from home the same.

I reckon it'd be a lesson in patience t'wait until it lines up with the calendar here, but... time sure works funny 'round here.

Yeah, it's helped me adjust before, keeping parts of your life before in a new place, maybe small changes to make it fit your new environment, but at the core it's the same as before.

I guess I could, it just seems a little strange celebrating without my brother. We've been together for every one of my birthdays until now. Hey, be careful what you wish for here! Johto likes to give out Pokemon eggs on a pretty regular basis. You might end up with more than you know what to do with.

Where I'm from they are, but I'm not sure about other worlds. It would be interesting to find out. It's a pretty special day, though, right? :)
